Bipartisan Wisconsin Law Secures Election Certification, Sets Key Safeguards
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MADISON, Wis. — Today, Wisconsin took key steps to comply with the federal Electoral Count Reform Act when Gov. Tony Evers signed A.B. 374 into law. A.B. 374 sets a clear timeline for canvassing and certifying Wisconsin elections. It also creates important safeguards to prevent local boards from holding up the state canvass, which would put the lawfully cast votes of millions of Wisconsinites at risk.
Secure Democracy USA Advocacy Director Peter Skopec released the following statement:
“Federal law sets clear rules and timelines for election certification. This bill makes sure Wisconsin is aligned with federal law and cements Wisconsin’s commitment to election integrity. This is a bipartisan win for free and fair elections. We thank the bill’s sponsors, and applaud Gov. Evers and the legislature for working together to secure Wisconsinites’ votes.”
