In a Win for Voters, Georgia Rejects Threats to Election Integrity in 2025 Session

State retains laws that ensure clean voter rolls and popular early voting options

On Friday, the Georgia General Assembly concluded its 2025 legislative session without passing legislation that would threaten election integrity and voter freedom. This includes H.B. 397, which would have reduced opportunities for Georgians to drop off their absentee ballots and weakened voter list maintenance practices.

Secure Democracy USA Senior Vice President of Policy and Advocacy Charley Olena released the following statement:

"Election integrity faced real threats in Georgia this year as lawmakers considered — and ultimately rejected — sweeping restrictions to absentee voting and ill-informed changes to election administration. This is a win for Georgia voters, who can continue to vote early with confidence, for Georgia election officials, who can continue their hard work to keep state voter rolls clean without partisan interference – and it’s a major win for election integrity in the Peach State."
