About Us
Secure Democracy USA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that works to build confidence in our elections and improve voter access across the United States. We educate policymakers and the public about what it takes to safeguard our voting systems. We collaborate with state leaders, election administrators, policy experts, and allies to ensure that all eligible citizens have the freedom to vote how they choose.
Our Leadership
Our leadership team has decades of experience in advancing policy solutions at the local, state, and federal level. Secure Democracy USA staff and in-state lobbyists work across the country to craft advocacy strategies that benefit all Americans by making our elections free, fair, and trustworthy.
Our Work
Throughout our history, brave Americans have fought and died for our values — including the freedom to vote. That’s why we work in states across the country to ensure that our system of election administration is insulated from partisanship and that eligible citizens have options when they cast a ballot — as well as the confidence to know that their vote will be counted.
We support common-sense policies on the local, state, and federal levels that build trust in our elections — policies that enjoy broad, bipartisan support, and protect the freedom to vote. That means:
Sustaining our tradition of in-person voting and ensuring that it is convenient for voters to cast ballots without interfering with work and other demands.
Early voting for those eligible voters who cannot make it in-person on Election Day.
Absentee voter verification that does not make it needlessly difficult for members of the armed services, homebound seniors, and rural voters to cast their ballots.
Restoring voter eligibility to the thousands of Americans who have returned home from prison but do not have a voice in their communities — individuals who have families, are holding jobs and paying taxes, and make valuable contributions to our country but still cannot vote.
Adequate ballot pre-processing time to improve accuracy and clarity by allowing counties to report their full election results shortly after polls close.
Transparent ballot tracking so every voter can trust that their ballot is received and counted.
Cure processes that are uniform and allow all voters to fix small, honest mistakes so that their votes can be counted.
Secure drop boxes that make returning a ballot convenient for those unable to travel long distances and ensure that every vote is accurately counted.
